The Key To A Solid Business

Do you know what the key to a solid business is?

It can be summed up in 3 simple words:

Good Customer Service

The movie below lists 10 important things that are necessary for lasting success, not only in network marketing but in any business.

Grab a pen and some paper and jot them down as you watch the movie. See which ones you can pat yourself on the back about. Star the ones you could do better on.

Then tell me in the comments section below how you scored! Have fun with it!

Do You Magnetize Or Repel?

One of those Ah Ha moments! Crystal clear, simple, down to earth. That’s what Mike Dillard‘s training is about Attraction Marketing.

I just re-watched his 7 Free Videos and was struck all over again at how foundational this is to the success of our business, whether part time or full time, online and off line. In fact, learning to be attractive is important and necessary in all areas of life!

It doesn’t matter what your business is, if you are repelling your prospects with your language and tactics, you won’t have a business for long.  And on the flip side of it, if you are using Attraction Marketing techniques it almost  doesn’t matter what you are selling or what your business is, people will be attracted and intrigued because they will be attracted to you.

Mike covers the fundamentals of true Attraction Marketing in his easy to understand 7 video series and the best part about it is that it’s free! In fact, I would say this is the place to start for anyone wanting to learn how to truly be successful in Network Marketing.

Have you watched them yet? Go do it now! They don’t take long to watch and they will make a huge difference in your business!

Go do it now! Get them here.

MLM Shutdowns and How To Push Through (part 2)

Welcome back to part 2!  We’ve covered how to prepare for MLM Shutdowns by starting with a good foundation for your network marketing business. Now we are going to talk about what the shutdowns are and how to push through them to success.

Let’s jump right in!

Shutdown #1

Your Warm Market List shuts you down.  The warm market list usually consists of our friends and family. How do you respond and react when they aren’t interested? Or worse, how do you feel and react when they are negative about your new business endeavour and the worst, laugh at you? For some new distributors, this first “shutdown” could stop them before they even really get started. Darren Hardy calls this a landmine in his cd series Making The Shift . He also explains why this happens – why our friends and family would act negatively. But if you are aware of this “landmine” and are working on your strong foundation, then you will be ready and not let your warm market list shut you down. At first you may feel like they are rejecting YOU, but they really aren’t. They are just rejecting the opportunity. You will be able to act like a duck and let their rejection just roll right off your back! You will then say, “Next”!

Shutdown #2

The new distributor on your team who shuts down before he even gets started can be a real downer tempting you to shut down too.  Shutdowns can be a domino effect if we aren’t careful and on our guard. What do you do? You go out and find more!  Always keep adding new business builders to your team.

Shutdown #3

The duplication on your team shutsdown. Do you know why this can happen? There could be several reasons but 2 are:

  1. You may have become a “helicopter” leader, hoovering over your team, getting into management mode. Remember, there are no bosses in this business. Each of us owns our own business. Instead of trying to manage, encourage and inspire and lead by example!
  2. You spend too much time studying your back office to see who is doing anything.

So what should you do when duplication slows down or stops? First of all, be grateful for what you have and who you have on your team. Show them you appreciate them! Stop focusing on what others “should” be doing. Get back to work. Sponsor and train new leaders. As your team sees you working and sponsoring, they will follow.

Shutdown #4

Personal challenges can be a major cause for shutdown. Maybe you have a spouse that just doesn’t get it and is not very supportive of your mlm business. Maybe you are helping care for an ailing parent or you have a special needs child like me. There could be any number of personal challenges to keep us from staying focused in our business.

Keys to Success

To help get you back on track, follow these simple keys:

  1. Get back into action. You won’t have time to focus on these shutdowns!
  2. Get back to your why and your goals.
  3. Stay consistent with your Personal Development plan every day.
  4. Always put a positive spin on things. We can learn something positive in every situation.
  5. Develop your leadership skills.
  6. Strengthen your mlm mindset and belief.
  7. Stay close to the fire. Stay connected to your company and upline through events and conference calls.
  8. Make today count! See each day as the first day in your business!

Sometimes the first step to victory is understanding what could cause shutdowns. I hope these thoughts will inspire you to press on to freedom and and success in your network marketing business!

I would love to hear your comments! And if you are at a fork in the road and are looking for someone to partner up with and would like to join a fast growing and vibrant team, I would encourage you to go to Work With Dayna and get in touch with me!

How To Handle Shutdowns In Your Network Marketing Business

You may think this post is about MLM Shutdowns; you know, companies that have shutdown and are no longer operating. That’s not what this is about. This post is part 1 of a 2 part series about things that shut YOU down in your mlm business and how to handle them.

I just returned from my company’s very exciting and high energy convention. Amidst the inspiring testimonies and talks, new product unveilings, and energetic panel discussions was a thought provoking workshop on shutdowns. Adam and Barbara did a great job, so I will do my best to encapsulate it for you.

First, what exactly is a shutdown in a network marketing business. It’s something that can stop you dead in your tracks in your business. It’s something the brings your exciting momentum to a screeching halt, or something that keeps you from ever really getting started.

Get Ready, Set, Start!

If you are new to Network Marketing you need to set a good foundation right from the start. If you are seasoned, you need to be a good leader by helping your new distributor’s set a good foundation.

  • Establish your WHY carefully. You can review how to do this by reading the post about your why. Make clear and specific goals. If you’ve never made S.M.A.R.T. goals before, you may want to do this with the help of your sponsor. You should do this within your first few days of signing up.

  • Treat your business like a business. In network marketing, remember, you are the boss. You don’t answer to anyone. There is no one telling you when to come in to work, when you can take a vacation or have time off, or how to do your work. It’s great to have that kind of freedom! But that can also be a disadvantage in that you may tend to not take our business seriously. If you treat your business like a business you will get paid like a business. You can’t be successful by only doing it sometime.

  • Make a commitment to Personal Development. Read 10 pages a day and listen 30 minutes a day to good material that will help you grow as a person and as a leader. The person who works more on themselves will be the most successful.

  • Get into Action right away!  Do what Adam Packard calls “Beat the Box”. That means to get someone else signed up in your business or helping a new distributor get someone signed up before their distributor kit even arrives in the mail. How exciting is that?!

  • Keep your Attitude and Expectations in check.

By doing these things, when the possibility for a shutdown comes along, you will have a good foundation to help you get right back up on your feet! If you are a good mlm sponsor you will help your new distributors get started right to help them avoid shutdowns.

Stayed tuned in for Shutdowns part 2! (what are the shutdowns?) I’d love to hear your thoughts! Please feel free to leave a comment!

To your success!

Attraction Marketing? What?

What’s all the buzz? I’ve heard this term used a lot lately in the field of business on the internet. I’m going to break it down for you and hopefully give you a clear picture of what it is and how it is The best way to do business of any kind, anywhere.

First let’s define our terms.
Attraction – to arouse interest or curiosity. Also think of a magnet with a strong pull.

Marketing – “Marketing includes identifying unmet needs; producing products and services to meet those needs: and pricing, distributing, and promoting those products and services to produce a profit.” (from Learn That website)

Relationships before Business

So what is Attraction Marketing? Basically, it is attracting people to You who are interested in what you have to offer. They find You. It is a switch from the old, conventional method of “chasing”, to allowing the prospective customer to come to you. It happens by attracting a growing number of people to you who are looking for what you have. By putting out lots of valuable information on the web, they find it. They get to know you, like you, and trust you. It’s the whole idea of giving something before you expect to receive anything. This creates trust and builds relationships.

How is this Done?

Think of yourself as a Living Magnet. Here are a few points to help you understand this concept:

1. First, you reach out to build relationships, not make a sales pitch, in many places on the internet. You do this by getting to know people on social sites who are in the specific groups that are interested in what you have to offer.
2. Give first. Provide valuable information on a specific topic. This is your target group or niche. This can be done by way of articles placed in strategic places, by writing a blog or website for example.
3. They contact you or give you permission to contact them by giving you their contact information. When this happens, you have “attracted” them and they are initiating the contact. They have  pre-sold themselves on You and what you are offering because of the good, free information you have given them.

What Attraction Marketing Isn’t and What Attraction Marketing Is

Here’s what it isn’t:
•  being pushy
•  persuading and convincing
•  bribing or bugging
•  pitching your product

Here’s what it is:
•  making a friend
•  identifying with their frustrations
•  sharing your knowledge
•  advising and educating
•  solving their problem

Attraction Marketing is great for network marketing. Approaching your business with this mindset will help you create a profitable and successful business.

What is your attitude? Your attitude is also what will attract or repel others. It’s not only being knowledgeable but also being a giver.

As Bob Burg and John David Mann say in their book, The Go-Giver: A Little Story About a Powerful Business Idea , “Your income is determined by how many people you serve and how well you serve them.”

Attraction marketing is the most natural and enjoyable way to grow a business. Yes, it takes work but then, anything that’s worth anything takes work!

I hope I’ve given you food for thought. To gain a better understanding of Attraction Marketing you can do what I did.  For free you can get The Attraction Marketer’s Manifesto and learn much more about this important concept.  This information was extremely helpful for me when I first got started. Take these words to heart as you embark on your internet business and you won’t ever regret it!

Abundantly Yours!

Your Comfort Zone

What does it take to be a successful Network Marketer?

We can keep doing what we’ve always done, expecting great results. (We know what that’s the definition for, right?) Will that help us reach our dreams and goals? I don’t think so. If we really thought that, then we might as well go out and look for a 9 to 5. That way we would at least be helping someone else reach their dreams and goals. I ran across this poem recently and thought it was so good that I wanted to put it up on the blog for others to glean from.

The Comfort Zone

Author Unknown

I used to have a comfort zone where I knew I couldn’t fail. The same four walls of busy work were really more like jail.

I longed so much to do the things I’d never done before. But stayed inside my Comfort Zone and paced the same old floor.

I said it didn’t matter that I wasn’t doing much. I said I didn’t care for things like diamonds, furs and such.

I claimed to be so busy with the things inside my zone, but deep inside I longed for something special of my own.

I couldn’t let my life go by just watching others win. I held my breath and stepped outside to let the change begin.

I took a step and with new strength I’d never felt before. I kissed my Comfort Zone “good-bye” and closed and locked the door.

If you are in a Comfort Zone, afraid to venture out, remember that all winners were at one time filled with doubt.

A step or two and words of praise can make your dreams come true. Greet your future with a smile.

Success is there for you!!!

Here’s to reaching our dreams and goals!

How I Won The Incentive Cruise Or The Value of Keeping Your Pipeline Full

I recently won the incentive cruise in my company! I’m so excited!  Not only did I win the trip, but it also helped me promote to the next level! As I reviewed how I did it, I kept coming back to the concept of “The Bursting Pipeline. This seemed like a perfect time to talk about the value of keeping your pipeline full. What is a full pipeline? In some ways, it seems obvious, but maybe it isn’t. A full pipeline in your Network Marketing business is when you are focused on your daily activities that YOU can control to build your business – meeting new people, prospecting, presenting, following up, and staying in touch until they are ready to join you. Here are a few points I thought of:

1. When your pipeline is full, there are several people on the brink of being ready to join. Sometimes even expressing to those who are in the pipeline that you are working toward winning a trip can be the very tipping point to decide to join you.

2. You don’t put all your eggs in one basket. If you only have a few people in your pipeline, you tend to focus on those few people to “get in”. Doing this may inadvertently be putting pressure on the one or two who are in your pipeline, causing the opposite effect. It may push them away!

3. When an incentive comes around that you really want to work for , you have the confidence that you can do it. Confidence and a positive attitude  is attractive.  When there aren’t many people in the pipeline we tend to doubt ourselves and our ability to do this business which will make us seem desperate or controlling, not at all attractive!

4. It helps free you up to only look for the Now people. Latch on to this concept. Look for those who are ready to sign up and keep moving. If someone isn’t ready, don’t hang all your hopes on them. Keep moving.

5. When an incentive comes around that you really want to work for , you have the confidence that you can do it, making it easier and so much more fun!

7. A full pipeline helps you to narrow your focus especially during contest time.

8. Staying connected to the leaders and their conference calls helps you to stay motivated and excited about the business, thus, keeping you doing something every day to build your business and your pipeline.

9. Above all, appreciate those in your pipeline and nurture your relationship with them. Personal notes are so important! Notes help them to know that your really value them as a person and not just see them as a signup.

This is certainly not an exhaustive list! I would love to hear your thoughts on the value of the Bursting Pipeline!

To your success!

What It Means To Be A True Leader In Network Marketing

I really like how Jonathan Budd put it in his post and video. He explains that true leadership and success in Network Marketing isn’t about signing up a huge amount of people yourself.  It’s all about first, being totally accountable for where you are  and what you do. A true leader is constantly learning and growing and seeking out answers for himself.  Only then can you help someone else and teach them. But a true leader is someone who no longer “needs” help. Teaching others to get to that point is true help.

You don’t need to be a top recruiter, putting in huge amounts of people every day to be a successful true leader in network marketing. Network Marketing is about putting in a few people and teaching them how to do the same.  That is the key. It’s so much easier to teach 40 people to go out and bring in 1 person  than it is to personally go and bring in 40 yourself.

We lead by example by consistently bringing in a few and REALLY TEACHING them to do the same. It’s the truest example of the  saying:

Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime.

What I like about Jonathan Budd is that he seems to really exemplify a true leader.

What about you? Are you ready to step up to the plate and be a true leader? Are you ready to teach others to do the same? It starts by being a continuous learning. Go up to the top of the page on the right and get my “5 Lessons of a Successful Home Business” to help you continue on the path of being a true leader.

8 Crucial Qualities of A Good MLM Sponsor

In the 13 years I’ve been involved in Network Marketing I’ve had plenty of opportunity to observe and take note of what makes a good sponsor.  Many times, those  new to our industry have no idea how important it is to choose their MLM sponsor rather than sign up with the first person who comes along.  But if you have the opportunity to take your time and do a little research you will have the advantage of choosing your sponsor wisely.  Here are the top qualities you will want in a good mlm sponsor.

  1. Easily available to their team. One of the most frustrating situations is to be new in the business and not be able to reach your sponsor for help.  Of course no one is available 24/7.  But if they don’t return your emails or calls that is frustrating and leaves you with a feeling that they don’t really care about your success. So before you sign on the dotted line, make sure they will be there for you.
  2. Provides direction without “managing”. You are about to embark on your own business.  You don’t want someone who will try to micro-manage you and your business.
  3. Well connected to the company and up on all the “goings on”. Do they know and understand the new incentives for example and keep their team informed?
  4. Actively building their business with the company you are considering. Preferably, they aren’t in retirement with their business.
  5. A good connection. Be sure that when you talk to them or correspond with them you feel like they are really listening and you have a good rapport.
  6. Actively leading their team with recognition and training! This also means that they see relationships as very important to the life of the business because relationships are  the glue that holds the team together and keeps people in the game.
  7. Positive, upbeat and fun! You certainly don’t want  a sponsor who will drag you down!
  8. Strong integrity. What more can be said on this important point!

Since first writing this post, I’ve created a video on How to find a Good MLM Sponsor with a few more qualities as well.

I hope you enjoy!

So, take this to heart. Choose your sponsor wisely and you will have a much better chance of being extremely successful in Network Marketing!
