Practicing The Golden Rule In Network Marketing

Practicing the Golden Rule in life is important for happiness. But to NOT practice the Golden Rule in Network Marketing is self sabotaging!

Do unto others what you would have them do unto you.

OR

Don’t do unto others what you Don’t want them to do to you.

I’ve been in Network Marketing now for 17 years and I’ve seen a lot of broken Golden Rules. I’ve also seen the Golden Rule played out beautifully.

If we are Christian Network Marketers striving to honor Christ in all we do, that would definitely include how we run our business.

For example:

If you wouldn’t want others to sell products to your customers, then don’t sell to someone else’s customer if you know the customer already has a distributor. (unless they are in your downline and you transfer points)

If  don’t want someone to persuade your customer or distributor to move over to their team then don’t try to persuade some else’s customer of distributor to move to your team.

How can we practice the Golden Rule in a positive way in our Network Marketing business?

Do encourage open meetings in your area. You may not be able to control what other leaders in your city do but you can control what you do as a leader.

Do have a spirit of generosity.

Do encourage a spirit of sharing with other teams. Share training, training materials, responsibilities. I’ve noticed that the teams that share the most and are the most open and generous are the ones that have great growth and are well respected.

Do respect and protect other people’s downline.

Do operate with the highest integrity in mind.  I love this definition of integrity that I heard at a convention once.

“Integrity means doing the right thing even when no one is looking.”

But there is always someone watching and that is the Lord. If we care about honoring Him in our business then we will be ever mindful.

A word if you’ve broken the Golden Rule.

No one is perfect. You may have broken the Golden Rule in a small or big way but you are ready to change your ways, turn over a new leaf and strive toward a Network Marketing business with integrity.

If you’ve specifically offended someone and it is affecting your relationship with them and your business, go to them in honesty and humility. Admit your wrong action. Tell them you are turning over a new leaf, that you will strive from here on out to operate your business in highest integrity. Isn’t that what you would want them to do to you? (sound familiar?) Don’t bring up what they might have done to you. Don’t have any strings attached.

If you do this, if you practice the Golden Rule in your Network Marketing business, if you make integrity and generosity your highest priority in your business, not only will the Lord bless you for that but you will have peace of mind knowing that you are pleasing God and truly helping others.

May you truly be blessed  as you practice the Golden Rule in your Network Marketing business!

Experiencing True Passive Residual Income: An Epiphany

I’ve had somewhat of an epiphany!

Recently I’ve come full circle. I’ve been experiencing true passive residual income over the past 3 years and it’s become more evident to me just lately. Where to begin?
Almost 15 years ago I got involved in my first Network Marketing business. For the first several years I worked hard at it, starting from total ignorance. My newcomer’s excitement and enthusiasm carried me through for a long time. And for the first several years I was not tempted whatsoever to look at another company. But then one day at a WAHM event someone from another company waved their big fat check in front of me and I was, for the first time, intrigued and curious. That started me on a path of {blush} “company jumping” on and off for about the last 10 years. My original company was always there and I would “work at it” on and off.  During the longest stint with another company ( almost the last 3 years ), my status and income remained secure and steady with my original company.  So when I received my residual bonus check this month it made me stop and reflect.
Why does this happen? What causes people to stick with a company for 15… 25…40 years? What is it about a product that would keep people coming back month after month? Here are my thoughts and reflections from personal experience and from the observation of many others:

  1. When someone has found a product that has changed their life and they won’t live without it,
  2. When that product is consumable they will order it over and over, month after month,
  3. When that same company has an autoship that helps these customers stay on their life changing products without missing a beat,
  4. When that company has a track record of over 55 years in business, in over 60 countries,
  5. When that company is at the cutting edge of scientific research and in many cases, ahead of the pack in research and discoveries,
  6. When that company has held a high level of integrity in the worlds of science and business,
  7. When that company has faithfully and generously supported it’s distributors and customers for all those years,
  8. When that company has people who have promoted these products steadily for many years, who have never wavered in their message,
  9. When many of those people have become life-long friends and like family that creates a certain kind of bond,
  10. When that company refuses to water down their life-changing formulas and ingredients in the face of a weakened economy,

…this is what results in True, Passive, Residual income!
This is what has caused me to do a double-take. This is what has caused me to appreciate my original company all over again and to ramp up actively sharing again the good the benefits of my original company and their life changing products and business opportunity.

Many good companies are out there. Many companies will come and go. But a company that has these 10 characteristics (and so many more qualities that I haven’t mentioned here) is one worth pursuing, promoting and sticking with for true, passive residual income! And this is what has caused me to come full circle and have my recent epiphany!

May these thoughts help you on your journey to residual income!

Jim Rohn’s Inspiring Thoughts For Network Marketers To Live By

As a part time Network Marketer, who are you wanting to attract into your business? Well you know what they say,”You must become the kind of person you want to attract.” Jim Rohn has inspired so many people to achieve success! Watch this inspirational video and let it become YOU! It is a major element in Attraction Marketing!

Gratitude – The Prosperity Sauce

You’ve heard of Laws of Attraction. There is a “Law of Gratitude”. Do you know what that is?  The more you reach out in gratefulness to God, the source of all good things, the more He  draws near to you.

“Draw nigh unto God, and He will draw nigh unto you.” That’s what the Bible says.

Many people who order their lives rightly in all other ways are kept in poverty by their lack of gratitude.  Having received one gift from God, they cut the wires which connect them with Him by failing to make acknowledgment.

To allow your mind to dwell on the negative and dissatisfaction, the more you will see things in a negative way and be more and more dissatisfied.  It’s like poverty thinking. If you dwell on what you don’t have, you will stay in that place.

With a heart of gratitude, our minds and our lives are open to much more abundance.

A grateful attitude is attractive –

  1. People are attracted to grateful people. Therefore, you will attract the right  people into your life and your business who are possitive and have a heart of gratitude.
  2. Prosperity is drawn to those who are positive with a grateful heart of appreciation. Prosperity is not drawn to a negative complainer and whiner.

Gratitude Journal

Do you struggle with being grateful? Maybe you should start a Gratitude Journal. Each morning and

evening jot dot several things your are grateful for. Read over them daily. By doing this it will show you so many more things to be thankful and grateful for and will totally change your perspective.

My challenge to you today is to develop the Gratitude Habit. When you wake up each morning start expressing your gratitude to God by naming what and who He has placed in your life. And throughout the day, especially when you feel yourself slipping into negative thinking, express gratitude.

Expect Success!

Your Comfort Zone

What does it take to be a successful Network Marketer?

We can keep doing what we’ve always done, expecting great results. (We know what that’s the definition for, right?) Will that help us reach our dreams and goals? I don’t think so. If we really thought that, then we might as well go out and look for a 9 to 5. That way we would at least be helping someone else reach their dreams and goals. I ran across this poem recently and thought it was so good that I wanted to put it up on the blog for others to glean from.

The Comfort Zone

Author Unknown

I used to have a comfort zone where I knew I couldn’t fail. The same four walls of busy work were really more like jail.

I longed so much to do the things I’d never done before. But stayed inside my Comfort Zone and paced the same old floor.

I said it didn’t matter that I wasn’t doing much. I said I didn’t care for things like diamonds, furs and such.

I claimed to be so busy with the things inside my zone, but deep inside I longed for something special of my own.

I couldn’t let my life go by just watching others win. I held my breath and stepped outside to let the change begin.

I took a step and with new strength I’d never felt before. I kissed my Comfort Zone “good-bye” and closed and locked the door.

If you are in a Comfort Zone, afraid to venture out, remember that all winners were at one time filled with doubt.

A step or two and words of praise can make your dreams come true. Greet your future with a smile.

Success is there for you!!!

Here’s to reaching our dreams and goals!

Success: Taking It To The Next Level According To Don Hutson

Propelling your Network Marketing business to the next level

You’ve heard it said, “It was like drinking from a fire hydrant!” I bet you know exactly what I’m talking about. You know those seminars where the speakers is so good and has so much great information to share that it’s just like drinking from a fire hydrant.

That’s what I experienced last Wednesday at the Talk Shoppe networking meeting in Memphis, TN. Don Hutson, who is an amazing motivator as well as best selling author and national speaker, spoke to a packed out room of eager listening independent business owners.  He gave so many life changing and business changing nuggets that my hand was cramping just trying to keep up taking notes. Halfway through I thought,”I can’t wait to share these nuggests on my blog!” But when I got home and read over my notes I realized there was too much good stuff to just try to squeeze into one post.  Therefore, I’m breaking it down into several parts to make it easier to really chew on what he said and get the most value out of every bit.

So here goes: taking it to the next level in your success.

We must BE better before we can DO better

What does this mean?

You may have heard it said that “Success occurs when opportunity and preparation meet.” There is so much that can be said about this! Do we want to be successful at our business?  Then we must be prepared. Who do you want to attract into your business?  Successful people attract successful people. A Successful person wants to join someone who already has a success plan in place. That’s why it is so important to prepare! If the type of person you want to attract comes into your circle of influence they will just pass you by if you aren’t prepared with a successful track in place.

Be better. What do you feed your mind? Do you see the glass half full or half empty? Do you see the positive or the negative in a situation or a person? What you feed your mind will greatly effect the way you see things and ultimately what you attract into your life.  Are you hanging around positive people? Are you reading positive books and listening to positive cds? This is one way to stay “up” as Don puts it.

Have an “UP” attitude.

You don’t see many winners whine or whiners win do you. That’s because winners have an up attitude.  People aren’t attracted to whiners.  Do you have a “victim” mentality?  People you are winners and successful high achievers know that it is up to them to CHOOSE their attitude.

When they have a negative circumstance they choose how they will look at it.

Successful people get over it fast. When something negative happens choose to get over it quickly.  They don’t mull over it and chew on it a while.  They learn from it, deal with it, then put it behind them and move on.

Successful people don’t let their ego eat their brain. Zig Ziglar calls this the “Egomania” disease. You don’t want this!

I want to leave you with this last valuable nugget that Don said. He asked the question:

“What is your personal propulsion?  What drives you? Motivates you? Propels you and moves you forward? It isn’t the same thing for everyone. It may be listening to a certain kind of music. (I love Stevie Wonder. His music really gets me going!) It may be starting the day with exercise or a brisk walk.  Maybe it’s reading the Bible and daily devotions. Maybe it’s reading certain motivational books or listening to a certain speaker.  You may have several. My personal propulsion may not be yours.  It’s important to find your propulsion and tap into it daily to keep you up and motivated to keep moving forward.

There is so much more to share with you that I gleaned from Don Hutson!  You can learn more from this inspiring speaker from his resources at Don Hutson.

I’d like to invite you to share your personal propulsion here in the comment box! I think it will be very interesting to hear what  you have to say!

To your success!

Bucket List: Never Stop Dreaming

Have you ever been to Dubai? I’m embarrassed to say that only a few years ago I had never even heard of the place.  There is a beautiful fountain in Dubai . They say it can shoot water up 50 stories high!  Would you like to go there and see it?  Are you in the position in life where you could go there, stay in the nicest hotel, eat from the best restaurants, shop at the best stores, and see this beautiful fountain?

As children, we had great imaginations. Little boys dream of becoming a fireman. Little girls dream of becoming an actress. When I was a child I would get in trouble for daydreaming in class too much. But somewhere along the journey to adulthood many of us gradually seem to lose that childlike ability to dream.  “Reality” sets in.  We have to think about the reality of making a living.

Why Dream?

Wouldn’t that be just living in a fantasy world and not the real world?  Aren’t we supposed to come down out of the clouds, act mature and responsible?

What about The American Dream?  Why do you think people came over in droves in the 1800’s? They came over from all around the world to have the freedom to live their dreams.  In their home countries, for various reasons they were not able to “gain” control of their lives like they wanted to.  So they uprooted their families, brought all their material possessions and came over to America to find their way – to “live their dream”!

Start Dreaming Again!

Did you see the movie The Bucket List? It’s about 2 men from very different walks of like, 1 from very modest means with a loving family and the other rich, sour and lonely. They were both diagnosed with terminal cancer and only given a couple of months to live.  Since they had to share their hospital room they got to know each other pretty well. One of the things they did was to write out their “bucket list”. This was a list of things they wanted to do before they died no matter how crazy. They sneaked out of the hospital together and one by one they accomplished everything on their lists – the absurd as well as the heartwarming, relationship healing items.

What about you? What’s on your bucket list? Most of us probably have more than a few months to live. Ask yourself some questions and start writing. Where do you want to be 5 or 10 years from now?

What would you like to do? Where would you like to go? What do you want to have?

What about a cause or charity?  Is there a special cause that is near and dear to your heart that you would love to make a difference? For me, one of my causes is helping to find a cure for Dystonia, a movement disorder. That is very near to my heart because my 20 year old son has it and there is no cure.

Don’t ever stop dreaming. This is a very important part of your success in your network marketing business.

To help you get the juices flowing, I want you to watch this very inspiring movie.  Then start writing.

8 Crucial Qualities of A Good MLM Sponsor

In the 13 years I’ve been involved in Network Marketing I’ve had plenty of opportunity to observe and take note of what makes a good sponsor.  Many times, those  new to our industry have no idea how important it is to choose their MLM sponsor rather than sign up with the first person who comes along.  But if you have the opportunity to take your time and do a little research you will have the advantage of choosing your sponsor wisely.  Here are the top qualities you will want in a good mlm sponsor.

  1. Easily available to their team. One of the most frustrating situations is to be new in the business and not be able to reach your sponsor for help.  Of course no one is available 24/7.  But if they don’t return your emails or calls that is frustrating and leaves you with a feeling that they don’t really care about your success. So before you sign on the dotted line, make sure they will be there for you.
  2. Provides direction without “managing”. You are about to embark on your own business.  You don’t want someone who will try to micro-manage you and your business.
  3. Well connected to the company and up on all the “goings on”. Do they know and understand the new incentives for example and keep their team informed?
  4. Actively building their business with the company you are considering. Preferably, they aren’t in retirement with their business.
  5. A good connection. Be sure that when you talk to them or correspond with them you feel like they are really listening and you have a good rapport.
  6. Actively leading their team with recognition and training! This also means that they see relationships as very important to the life of the business because relationships are  the glue that holds the team together and keeps people in the game.
  7. Positive, upbeat and fun! You certainly don’t want  a sponsor who will drag you down!
  8. Strong integrity. What more can be said on this important point!

Since first writing this post, I’ve created a video on How to find a Good MLM Sponsor with a few more qualities as well.

I hope you enjoy!

So, take this to heart. Choose your sponsor wisely and you will have a much better chance of being extremely successful in Network Marketing!
